With space for only forty people, the venue maintains a comfy yet chic atmosphere, backed up by dim lighting, red mirrored walls, and black leather booths crammed full of chatty guests and their plates of southern-fried pork chops. A nonstop hum of conversation mixes with the mellow ambient music, though the place does get noisier later on when patrons with the late-night munchies pack in by the bar to sip cocktails and wait for one of the few tables to open up. Upbeat and always buzzing with activity, Franklin Café is a great option for a romantic dinner or a last-call nightcap with a sociable crowd.

Playlists featuring indie rock. Occasional special events including Maker’s Mark promotional nights and visits from distillers.

Diverse seasonal menu includes fried green tomatoes, sweet potato gnocchi, corned beef and cabbage, and gluten-free and vegetarian dishes, served until 1:30am.

Seasonal wine list. Nine microbrews on tap. Parking on corner of East Berkley Street and Shawmut Avenue.
