Party Earth Meadhall Review

The Scene

Meadhall in Cambridge, Boston has more than 100 craft beers to choose from. Get social and get sudsy in Boston with Party Earth.

Beer bars are a dime a dozen in Beantown, but Kendall Square’s Meadhall may be the top of the taps, with more than a hundred different brewskies to make it pretty much anyone’s cup of tea.

…cup of mead?

The focal point of the expansive, contemporary space is the stunning number of tap handles: 110 to be precise, all spread out in the middle of the circular bar and ranging from boutique U.S. producers to stalwart Belgian mainstays.

No matter where they come from, only craft suds make the cut –sorry bros, no Bud, Miller, or Coors to be had – so MIT students and fussy frost-top hounds can usually be found staring wide-eyed at the mammoth chalkboard drinks list until they finally force themselves to make a decision.

During the day, groups of friends in comfy duds toast in the sunlight streaming through the large windows as they munch on hearty comfort food like steak frites and egg-topped burgers, while evenings see miniature desk lamps switched on and a big after-work crowd thirsting for newly found pints.

Intimate probably wouldn’t be the word to describe this place – it is a hall, after all – but the stairs lead to a loft-style second floor lounge, whose leather couches, handful of TVs, and small bar offer a somewhat cozier vibe, albeit with fewer available drafts.

Busy most nights with festive folks looking to be social, it’s come one, come all to Meadhall.

Tip from Jonah:

Meadhall has a private room available for rental on the second floor, which means your next birthday could be spent in a beer lover’s paradise.

  • Crowd

Beer geeks, MIT students, craft-seeking young professionals, chatty groups of friends, early 20s to late 30s.

  • Entertainment / Music

Eclectic soundtrack of loud rock, soft indie acoustic, jazz, and everything in between. A few TVs in the upstairs area show sports.

  • Food / Miscellaneous

Hearty new-American menu with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients such as steak frites, seafood, and burgers, as well as bar snacks a cut above standard fare, like house pickled veggies and rosemary-dusted mixed nuts.

  • Prices

    Snacks $3–$6, small plates $3–$8, entrées $11–$29. Beer $5–$12, wine $8–$10, cocktails $9–$12.

  • What to Wear / Dress Code

Casual: jeans, sneakers, cardigans, quirky flair, retro garb, comfy blouses.

  • Hot Nights / When to Go

Anytime during the day to shoot the breeze with the friendly locals at the bar, pick the bartender’s brain, and abuse the beer sampling policy, or Friday and Saturday nights for the biggest crowd getting their craft on.

  • Close By

Lord Hobo (92 Hampshire Street) is also known for its extensive and oddball beer selection, and draws a crowd that’s more artsy hipster than MIT student.

I mean can there be SOO many varieties of beer? Clearly yeah.. both sides of the bar have taps carrying more than 150 varieties of beer.. I couldn't pick what to drink so the bertender found me a drink based on what i was feeling for.. I not only loved the beer but the atmosphere.. Its a great place to hang out with your beer loving friends and eat some good food.. you can spend the whole night here (if you have lot of $$$$ on you).. no problem.. thumbs up!
