Berlin Performing Arts Overview
As the center of music in Germany, and possibly Europe, Berlin features a cavalcade of performing arts where some of the best theater, musicals, shows, opera, orchestra, burlesque, and more can be found any day of the week.
It’s not hard to find performing arts in Berlin. There are venues catering to nearly every discipline with grand theaters for opera, ballet, and the symphony, to great stages and halls for musicals and plays.
Two of the best opera houses in Berlin are Städtische Oper, home of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Komische Oper Berlin, which was built in 1892 and has a stunning operatic stage.
The most famous theater in Berlin is Friedrichstadt-Palast. Built in 1867, this grand stage features extravagant musicals and performances and sits in the middle of Berlin’s famous theater district.
For the saucier side of Berlin’s performing arts scene, you can find burlesque nights and cabaret at clubs all over the city. But if you want something a little more subdued, there are plenty of non-sensual dance performances as well.
Whether you’re looking for some high-brow entertainment or a place to charge up the night, there are a great number of performing arts venues in Berlin for whatever you desire.
