Berlin - Party Climate

Germany’s capital is a city whose nightlife literally never stops, so there are just as many high-octane things to do in Berlin by day as there are by night. Nearly all the bars, lounges, pubs, and clubs stay open until at least 3am, and many don’t close their doors before 6 or 7am, if they close them at all.

From traditional wursts (sausages) to high-end international cuisine, the city’s restaurants keep revelers fueled for more, while twenty-four-hour public transportation makes it easy to bop between a great live music concert, a few steins at the beer garden, a round of shopping, and then back into the Berlin night.

“The wide variety of bars and clubs combined with Berlin’s late closing hours make it easy to party all night, every night of the week. There’s a bar on practically every corner, and many of them offer both an energetic pub atmosphere and a packed dance floor. Some clubs can be a bit edgy, but most are relatively easy to get into and provide a more interactive setting than some of the underground and DJ-focused clubs. During the summer, Berlin’s beer culture really comes alive with the beer gardens, outdoor festivals, and great ‘beach bars,’ which offer a welcome excuse to get outdoors after the long winter.”

“One thing to appreciate about Berlin is the sheer number of clubs to choose from. If you’re up for a night of dancing, you can always find somewhere to go. The city also has its fair share of worldrenowned clubs, which are absolute highlights in the nightlife scene with their stunning visual layouts and some of the best DJs in town. Unfortunately, a lot of other clubs have an underground vibe that caters to a more alternative crowd. In terms of style, Berlin is extremely casual overall, but luckily there is a smattering of chic lounges and cafés, especially in West Berlin, where patrons can get a bit more dressed up. While Berlin may not have a wealth of upscale venues, the ones it does have are top notch and offer a great time for anyone willing to seek them out.”

“A more laid-back social scene would be difficult to find, which is hardly surprising in a city where dress codes are almost completely unheard of. Berlin is also lenient in other ways, since many bars and clubs support the city’s lax marijuana laws. But what truly makes Berlin great is the variety of live music venues. With low-key jazz clubs, upbeat rock venues, and innumerable bars that regularly host bands, finding live music every night of the week is always easy. In fact, after hitting a few of these bars and taking in the great music, the sociable patrons, and the comfortable surroundings, it’s easy to forget that techno still dominates the Berlin scene.”

“Berlin is a great example of a Western European city that is at once both easygoing and exciting. The hundreds of clubs, most of them with low cover charges, allow for spontaneous nights out that sometimes go until the next morning. While some areas, particularly in Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, are a bit rough around the edges, the city feels fairly safe overall, despite its occasionally chaotic appearance. The city is also rife with laid-back bars, outdoor cafés, and lounges where patrons can chat without shouting, not to mention plenty of down-to-earth clubs for those who prefer their nights out to be low key rather than cutting edge. Throw in the museums and parks, and Berlin offers all the benefits of a European capital city – the difference is that the lack of sky-high prices means that anyone can take advantage of those benefits.”
