Silvester 2012/2013 was one of the most unforgettable New Years Eve's I have EVER experienced. A ridiculous amount of people (1 million +) cram into the 2.5km stretch of road around the Brandenburg Gate. Drinks are flowing, German food is aplenty and the atmosphere is buzzing! Spurs of different languages makes for a truly international night out! Even better, the event is free and broadcasted live throughout the world. World records were broken as the crowd danced the night away to "Gangnam Style" followed by a superb fireworks display lasting 15 minutes. My number one tip- leave the heels at home!! To make sure you have a great spot for the night, it's best to arrive at around 4pm-5pm. Wear comfortable shoes, a warm jacket and gloves, to make sure you see in the New Year. The Silvester in Berlin is the number one place to mix with people from all over the world, while still experiencing all things "German".
