The scene of free-flowing bodies moving to the music greets patrons as they enter Sophienclub, an unpretentious and upbeat nightspot that draws an international crowd.
There’s a trippy vibe in this long, narrow space, helped along by the low ceilings, red and black color scheme, and dim lighting, which is occasionally punctuated by flashing colored lights.
The place really comes to life on the weekends, when the club opens the downstairs area for rap and R&B music and high-energy patrons pack the dance floors on both levels.
A lounge in the back provides a mellower scene where guests sprawl on cushy black leather and red velvet sofas to converse or contemplate the black-and-white films flickering on the walls.
Conveniently located in Mitte, Sophienclub’s affordable cover charge and great drink specials attract a clientele of students and young travelers.
Young club crowd, late teens to 20s, many tourists and students.
Indie pop and Brit pop on Tuesdays, rock, pop, and dance classics Wednesdays through Saturdays, and R&B and rap in the lower level on Fridays and Saturdays.
Daily cocktail and beer specials. Student beer specials during the week.
Cover charge €3–€5, includes one drink. Thursday and Friday are Ladies’ Night, no cover charge for women until midnight. Beer €2.50–€3.50, cocktails and mixed drinks €5–€7, shots €1.50–€3.50.
For indie and Brit pop on Tuesdays. Saturdays around midnight when all the floors are open.
