A small club with two faces, Avastar is a relaxing neighborhood bar during the week and a popular drum and bass venue on the weekends.
Expansive windows and inviting velvet sofas lend a trendy air to the front of the bar, while the middle area takes on a more modern vibe where guests lounge on circular black leather sofas and modified car and airplane seats.
A low-key house party vibe dominates the early evenings when the DJ spins mellow reggae or soul as regulars pop in and out to chat and have a few drinks, while later on, patrons station themselves near the open windows or out on the sidewalk – sometimes a necessity in this smoker-friendly bar.
By midnight the DJs have switched to more upbeat house and drum and bass music, and the back room begins to overflow as guests slowly make their way to the cozy dance floor.
While Avastar is primarily a local’s bar, the friendly, welcoming bartenders and staff make anyone feel like just another regular.
If you go to nearby Junction Bar to see some live music, Avastar is the perfect post-concert spot to keep the night going with a few cocktails and some dancing.
Outgoing regulars, 20s to 40s.
DJs spin reggae, soul, and Motown in early evenings, and techno, drum and bass, and house after midnight.
None.
Beer €2.50–€3, wine €2.60–€3.20, cocktails €4.80–€7.80, mixed drinks €5.50.
Casual.
Slows down a bit in the summer, so go on a winter Friday any time after 11pm.
