A fabulous retreat for a late dinner, Zaza’s is a restaurant and cocktail bar that offers over fifty kinds of cocktails, as well as fresh sushi, soup, and salads until midnight.
Chic and sleek, the décor features vintage black-and-white photographs of American movies and celebrities with green lighting fixtures that add a dash of color to the crisp black-and-tan interior.
Intimate tables for two and ample booths for groups fill the long, narrow space, and playful menus – which translate phrases like “cheers” and “enjoy your meal” into exotic languages – offer some fantastic dim sum and a breathtaking array of sushi.
The handful of flat-screen TVs are usually muted so as not to interfere with the conversation of the trendy clientele that congregates for drinks and dinner before heading out to the many nearby bars.
In the summer, patrons often settle into the wicker chairs outdoors to sip cocktails and watch the night come to life in this fashionable neighborhood.
Hip and trendy, 20s to mid-30s.
Ambient pop and jazz. Flat-screen TVs tuned to sports.
Cocktails and sushi. Happy Hour daily 6–8pm. Sushi Happy Hour daily 8–10pm.
Dim sum €4–€10, nigiri sushi €2–€5, sushi rolls €7.50+, platters €16. Beer €2.50+, wine €3+, cocktails €6–€9, mixed drinks €5.80, shots €2.50–€5.
Trendy casual.
Zaza gets busy every night at 6pm when all cocktails are half price and the sushi is about €1 less during their respective Happy Hours.
There are many boutiques and vintage clothing stores on Kastanienallee. KulturBrauerei is also nearby on Schönhauser Allee.
