Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin –
As the self-proclaimed home of the “world’s greatest selection of absinthe,” the laid-back Druide Bar provides just the right environment to explore the effects of this classic drink and the fabled “green fairy” that comes with it.
A giant, mystical mural of a bearded old man surrounded by mythical creatures sets the tone, while the lime green, bamboo-covered walls add a final touch to the cool and pleasing décor.
Sofas, armchairs, and wooden tables surround the brick bar, which features over 170 varieties of absinthe, as well as an extensive list of cocktails and beers. Still, the hundreds of colorful bottles, absinthe posters, and green fairies make it clear where the real focus of this bar lies.
As Happy Hour gets underway, groups of first-timers eagerly read the instructions on the ritual of absinthe drinking and ask advice about the different strengths available, while experienced regulars confidently order rounds of the more potent varieties.
Those looking for a mind-expanding experience in a relaxed atmosphere may find that Druide is right up their alley.
Druide is right next to the Eberswalder Strasse stop on the U2 line, so it’s really convenient to stop in before going out in Prenzlauer Berg. You’ll definitely want to check it out for all of the special deals – plus you’ll learn and experience a lot from the informative staff and huge selection.
