Party Earth Review Arabian artwork and hookahs adorn the walls of Alarabi, a unique Middle Eastern restaurant and hookah bar with an exotic but mellow vibe. The outdoor seating area offers an easygoing space for conversing with friends and meeting other patrons, and fills up quickly during Happy Hour in the summer. Inside, café tables, corners ... more

Party Earth Review It may look like a hole in the wall from the outside, but inside, Cassiopeia has transformed a former factory into a stylish, alternative club complex that retains the old industrial rusticity of East Berlin. The cavernous structure, located past the front gate and on the left side of the courtyard, houses dance floors ... more

Party Earth Review Experience a bit of East Berlin history at Die Tagung, where the red walls, Lenin-quoting drink menus, and collection of propaganda posters all recall East Germany as it existed before the wall fell. Despite its theme, the bar creates a cozy, neighborly vibe summed up in its motto Hip ist woanders, bei uns ist Zuhause ... more

Bar / Lounge
Party Earth Review Habermeyer is a cozy bar and lounge that lives by its motto “There can’t be good living where there’s no good drinking.” Its classic Berlin retro décor consists of casual but modern furniture thrown together haphazardly and a deep red glow that emanates from funky lighting fixtures, though the most distinctive feature is ... more

Party Earth Review A small tropical paradise in the middle of Berlin, Palm Beach offers weary patrons a place to escape the city streets and wiggle their toes in the soft white sand beneath their feet. Palm trees, beach-scene murals, an old VW bus, and surfboards transport the festive crowd to the surf’s edge at this tiki-style bar – and ... more

Party Earth Review A must for any wine lover, Wein-Salon is an intimate, upscale, slightly alternative lounge in a residential area of Friedrichshain. The rustic wooden bar with its display of fine wines dominates the front room, while the back room features an ever-changing exhibit of modern art and a perpetually busy pool table. The dark ... more

Party Earth Review Franken has the feel of an old English pub with a punk attitude and the prices of a Berlin dive. A huge wooden bar, complete with a boar’s head hanging above it, dominates the front of the pub, where posters and stickers for punk bands cover the wall and give some legitimacy to the bar’s reputation as a punk hangout. Toward ... more

Party Earth Review Madonna is a simple neighborhood bar made famous when it and its ceiling – which is reminiscent of the Sistine Chapel – were featured in the German movie Herr Lehmann. Fame hasn’t gone to the bar’s head, however, as witnessed by the understated décor of whitewashed walls, clusters of wooden tables, and the aforementioned ... more

Party Earth Review A biker-style bar with Persian rugs on the ceiling and painted flames on the walls, Wild at Heart is a popular live music venue known for its alternative scene, as evidenced by the punk rock stickers and posters plastered on every available surface that pay tribute to past performances. Party Earth Review It’s not a café and no burgers are served, but once past the name it’s easy to see why Kaffee Burger is a mainstay of East Berlin nightlife. This large bar and club gained fame in the early 2000’s when it was featured in Wladimir Kaminer’s book Russian Disco – which subsequently inspired the club’s wild, renowned Russendisko ... more

Party Earth Review In a city that offers everything, the hole-in-the-wall restaurant Weinerei Frarosa still manages to be one of a kind. There is such a wide variety of bars in Berlin that it’s easy to party all night, every night of the week – especially because of the really late closing hours. Berlin bars are practically on every corner, and many of them offer both an exciting atmosphere and a packed dance floor.
Berlin’s alternative and progressive attitude lends the city an exceptional diversity throughout its various bars and a wonderful come-as-you-are mindset is reflected in the wohnzimmer (living room) style adopted by many nightlife establishments throughout the city, which helps create a relaxed atmosphere and evokes the feel of a private house party.
When it warms up, Berlin’s beer culture comes alive with a variety of bars and beer gardens offering outdoor drinking, in addition to “beach bars” that are scattered along the Spree River.
The city is chock full of laid-back bars and down to earth drinking dens but if you’re looking for something a little more high-end, you can find it – even if you have to look a little harder.
Although some areas of Berlin can be a bit chaotic in appearance – especially in Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain – the city overall is safe and all-night public transit keeps the party going at bars well into the wee hours.
