World Press Photo Exhibition 2012 Art Exhibit / Photography Exhibit Nov 29, 2012–Jan 6, 2013

With the rise of the digital camera, citizen reporting, and apps like Instagram, the next revolution in photography is underway. To celebrate this movement and the best in photojournalism, amateur photographers and art hounds flock to the annual World Press Photo Exhibition. Since 2005, the exhibition has featured award-winning works by top international photographers at The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) in Barcelona. The exhibition runs from the end of November to the beginning of June.

The World Press Photo Exhibition features over 150 of the best press photos from the past year. The works thematically explore concepts of press freedom, what makes news, and what constitutes photography. Photographers featured at past World Press Photo Exhibitions have included Albert Uriach, Jordi Oliver, Patricia Esteve, Helena Batlle, Antoine Passerat, Mireia Bordonada, and Sandra Balsells. See a work by your favorite photojournalist or discover an important series by someone new.

Tickets to the World Press Photo Exhibition start at around €4 per person, and tours are available in English, Catalan, and Castilian. The exhibit is geared toward visitors age 12 and over, but while all ages are welcome, the mature subject matter and some disturbing images may be too much for younger children to handle.
