ArtFutura 2012 Arts Festival / Art Exhibit Oct 26–28, 2012

As art continues to evolve and adapt to new technologies, a whole generation of artists and tinkerers have worked to bridge the divide between artistic expression and technological development. In celebration of this marriage of art and technology, the 2012 ArtFutura invites digital artists and innovators to share and explore the latest in new media, videogames, computer animation, and interactive design.

Every November since 1990, ArtFutura has brought out the biggest names in digital art for five full days of exhibits, workshops, conferences, demonstrations, and interactive installations. ArtFutura is hosted by a different world city each year with past locations including Barcelona, Madrid, and Buenos Aires. The festival takes on a new theme every year with previous themes including We Live in Public, From Virtual Reality to Social Networks, and Our Culture is Digital.

Past participants and organizations at ArtFutura have included David Byrne, Brian Eno, Industrial Light & Magic, Laurie Anderson, William Gibson, Pixar, Paul Friedlander, Second Life, the MIT Media Lab, and Masaya Matsuura. Check out a screening of a 3D short film or walk through an interactive robotics exhibit to see where the future might be headed.

Daily tickets to ArtFuture 2012 start at around €9 for half-day tickets and €12 for daylong admission. After learning all you can at the digital art and technology exhibits, network with ArtFutura participants at the cafés and bars nearby.
