FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona is a professional football team in La Liga that plays home games at Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain. The stadium was built in 1957, and has an eye-popping seating capacity of 98,787 fans for Barcelona matches. The club was established in 1899, and has since developed an intense rivalry with Real Madrid CF for the top spot in La Liga, and their yearly games, always known as El Clásico, can often determine the winner of the overall league and various cups. FC Barcelona has won over twenty La Liga championships, two-dozen Copa del Rey’s, numerous UEFA Champions League titles, and FIFA Club World Cups. Barça’s domination of club soccer has been aided by their tiki-taka style of play, and legendary players such as Michael Laudrup, Lázló Kubala, Lionel Messi, and Ronaldinho. The die-hard fan base makes FC Barcelona tickets for El Clásico hard to come by if not bought significantly ahead of time.

Currently the team to beat for everyone but nobody seems to be able to do it; the reason being Lionel Messi. The man seems to be play both roles of being the savior where he saves the match for the team at the end moment and the punisher where just runs rampant on the field. Their major rival 'Real Madrid', once untouchable have been left stunned by the little masters rise and have yet to come up with a solution. The 'El Classico' was once a display of classy passing and goals has recently turned into a farce with players play acting and fighting with each other. I hope top european teams can find a way to tackle the Messi problem otherwise I can assure you with the team roster which also included players like Xavi, Iniesta, Villa; Barcelona are bound to dominate both domestic and european competitions for a while.

What a dream it would be to get to watch FC Barcelona take on Real Madrid in Camp Nou. People will look back on this HOF Barcelona team and see players like Messi, Xavi, Puyol, Pique, Iniesta, Valdes, David Villa, Dani Alves and Alexis Sanchez and wonder how they ever lost. Watching them play is a real pleasure. For all the Ronaldo vs. Messi fans out there, Ronaldo is the best scorer in the game, Messi is the best overall player.

My Spanish professor first introduced me to Barca nearly twenty years ago. He was originally from Barcelona and was a rabid fan of FC Barcelona. I've been cheering for them ever since. This season's team is great. I hope that Messi crushes all of the records again. Barca will outlast Real Madrid this year.

What a great match today between FCB and Real Madrid. What looked like a stalemate for the better part of 55 min exploded into 5 goals rather quickly. I took my eye off the match for a few minutes and missed 2 goals. While this game might be for bragging rights only, I cannot wait for the second leg. Anytime these two teams lock horn, fireworks are going to go off. So much talent, it was a pleasure to watch.
