Party Earth Lolita Tapería Review

The Scene

Lolita Tapería in Barcelona’s Poble Sec is a hopping tapas joint with unique fare and late-night DJs. Try something new in Barcelona with Party Earth.

Occupying the former location of and run by one of the same guys behind the ridiculously popular tapas joint Inopia, Lolita Tapería opened in late 2010 and quickly became…a new ridiculously popular tapas joint.

Sure, finding a place that serves Spanish-style small plates in Barcelona is about as difficult as finding salt in the sea, but this brightly colored hotspot touts a complex menu that’s worlds away from a drab piece of ham on crusty bread.

Iberian pork shoulder, avocado and quail egg, salmon with Greek yogurt, and rabbit with snails are just a few of the items offered, along with an entire section of the menu dedicated just to olives and anchovies and a dessert list that includes open pineapple drenched in molasses.

Despite the unique grub, the venue exudes a playful air, evidenced in the trademark puckered lips posted out front and on most of the walls inside. The casual vibe is extended through the simple, modern décor and the fact that regulars run the gamut from stylish foodies and hip locals to boisterous birthday groups and loads of international tourists.

Stuffing one’s face isn’t the only thing to do, however, since late nights at Lolita Tapería see the usually bright lights dim as pretty young party seekers trade their small plates for rounds of cocktails, flirting, and maybe a little dancing to the DJs to help burn off all that food.

Original tapas place in a lovely neighborhood
Raphaëlle B. May 9, 2013
Located at a corner in the beautiful Poble Sec area of the Eixample neighborhood, Lolita Taperia is an originally decorated restaurant just loud enough to convey an authentic, joyful atmosphere all the while allowing for a real conversation with your friends over a nice set of tapas. I just thought that the menu did not offer much choice for a taperia, but what we ordered was delicious! The staff is very friendly and helped us out to put some candles on our desert to celebrate our friend's birthday!
delicious tapas in a fun and casual atmosphere

i was lucky enough to stumble into lolita taperia while wandering the streets of barcelona with my friends, and it was one of the happier accidents from our trip. the place is bright and casual, with lots of small, crowded tables and narrow bars around the kitchen. the menu is large - just what you want from a tapas spot - and everything we tried was delicious. particular favorites were the don pepito, an incredible little steak slider that we ordered again and again until the kitchen closed, and the addictive lemon sorbet. there are a million tapas restaurants in barcelona, but this one is definitely worth a visit.
