Extending out from the center of the bustling and picturesque Avinguda del Paral·lel, Poble Sec is a largely residential neighborhood that still manages to offer a good assortment of bustling cafés and restaurants, most of which avoid any kind of tourist crunch.

It’s residential nature no doubt explains why many consider it to be one of the safest neighborhoods in town, and though it’s by no means home to a raging party scene, the streets are still lined with plenty of chill lounges and bars where locals drop in for a mellow night before walking to their homes nearby.

Montjuic, the ancient Roman hill that majestically rises up from the Plaça d'Espanya, is a quick walk south of Poble Sec, while anyone not enticed by a relaxed evening can simply stroll north; in about twenty minutes they’ll find themselves in the pulsing heart of Las Ramblas.
