Barcelona - Party ClimateSince its rejuvenation after the 1992 Olympics, Barcelona has risen from a provincial port town into one of the world’s most popular destinations – particularly because of its nightlife, which is every bit as colorful and inspiring as the architecture of the city’s most famous citizen, Antoni Gaudí. For every tourist who makes the pilgrimage to Barcelona just to see the fruits of the Modernista movement Gaudí championed, there are just as many, if not more, visitors and residents who take advantage of the beach life, liberal attitudes, and all-night fiestas of the Catalan capital. Not surprisingly, weekends see the most action when every cerveseria (bar) and restaurant reverberates with the noisy chatter of customers hustling for seats and service, while every dance floor in the city is packed from 3am until dawn. Like the rest of their Spanish compatriots, Catalans love to party – and although these hard-working folk rarely find time for a siesta, that doesn’t stop them from setting out late in the evening and staying out until the sun comes up. During the day, the city hums with countless things to do whether it’s riding waves, finding cool events, listening to live music at a concert or just lounging at any number of restaurants. With its variety of people and nightlife, Barcelona really is a perfect playground for partygoers whether they’re interested in dancing under the stars at exclusive venues or alternative clubs, sipping cocktails in chic lounges, hanging out in street cafés, or just wandering and people-watching. Regardless of how one chooses to party, however, one thing is certain – there’s no such thing as an early night in Barcelona, and both visitors and residents quickly become acquainted with the Spanish sunrise. read less |

Lucas“Barcelona has everything a guy could want in a party destination, and that means plenty of bars, beer, beaches, and beautiful people. The city is full of friendly spots perfect for mingling, drinking, and watching sports – especially when FC Barcelona is playing and fans pack every bar, café, and pub and turn the city into one big party. The real heat of the city, however, is centered in the Port Olimpic/Barceloneta area, which draws a huge, high-energy crowd that parties at the lounges and clubs until 6am. And in the summer, nothing is better for recuperating from the night before than sitting at a beach bar with one hand wrapped around a cervesa and both eyes on the señoritas passing by.”
Adriana“A cool and sexy city, Barcelona offers plenty to do to fill your days, whether its shopping for designer labels on picturesque streets, relaxing over coffee at an outdoor café in a quiet medieval plaça, or soaking up the sun and enjoying the view on the beaches. Nights are even better with all the upscale restaurants and lounges to choose from for a great meal or mingling with a posh crowd. And the club scene in Port Olimpic is simply fantastic – that is, if you like dressing up in your hottest outfit, rubbing shoulders with beautiful party people, and dancing until dawn at seafront clubs.”
Jonah“Barcelona simply can’t be beat for just hanging out and soaking up its unique, laid-back vibe – and with tons of free cultural activities and festivals, as well as fantastic weather, there’s always something to see or do. By day, there’s nothing better than chilling out at one of the beautiful parks with all the other weird and wonderful hippies, sharing some sangria or beer with friends (technically illegal, but no one seems to care!), or perhaps practicing some skateboarding tricks with the alternative crowd that hangs out at some of the outdoor plaças. Barcelona also has a solid range of live music venues to check out, with bands playing everything from jazz to post-rock, as well as some alternative clubs for after-hours fun. Everything is open late, so no one is ever in a hurry in this city.”
Emma“A lively party city that won’t break the bank, Barcelona offers so much great culture and architecture – not to mention the beaches – that it’s nearly impossible not to find something to do. Afternoons are best spent meandering the narrow medieval streets and picturesque plaças of the Old Town, soaking up the carnival vibe on Las Ramblas, or checking out the mind-boggling works of Gaudí. In the evenings, the city’s myriad small cafés and bars hum with activity, especially in the beautiful Passeig del Born. And of course there’s no shortage of late-night options, particularly around Plaça Reial where dozens of venues help keep the party going until the wee hours. Keeping an eye out for flyers and promoters around town makes it easy to avoid cover charges, too!” |
