Barcelona Acció Musical, better-known as the BAM Festival, is a free independent music festival and a very popular late-September event in Barcelona.
Organized by the Barcelona City Council, the BAM festival takes place in different squares all over the city, and since the first BAM was organized back in 1993 more than 900 bands from all over the world have performed in this great open-air concert series.
Music at the BAM festival covers an eclectic mix of styles, including world, indie, electronic, rock, pop, and more. Performers at BAM festivals in the past have varied from Lou Reed to OK Go to the nine-piece hip-hop and flamenco flavor of Ojos de Brujo.
Officials estimate more than 150,000 people attend the BAM Festival every year.
You never know who might be performing. And since the BAM Festival is free, you can always head to another square if the band on stage isn’t what you’re looking for!
