Anyone who’s all about partying with the glitterati of Barcelona should make The Sutton Club their first stop.
One of the most exclusive and fashionable nightspots in town, the club is popular with a beautiful and sophisticated Spanish clientele that spends the early part of the night secluded in the softly lit Moët and Grey Goose VIP areas.
Later, as the cocktails and sexy house music weave their magic, the spacious dance floor becomes a showcase for hip dance moves and flirtatious glances, while those preferring to watch from the sidelines sink into luxurious cream sofas and stools around the perimeter.
Like many exclusive venues, much of Sutton’s mystique is self-perpetuating, but the club has nevertheless secured its place as one of Barcelona’s hotspots. Unfortunately, those who are not part of the playboy/playgirl set will find themselves in long lines outside, jostling for position or being turned away by stony-faced doormen.
However, dressing to the nines, fighting to get on the guest list, and arriving before 2am may just help patrons slip past Sutton Club's tight velvet ropes.
Just because you’re on the guest list doesn’t mean you’ll be able to walk right in – sometimes the guest list line is even longer than the regular one! Try arriving a little before 2am to avoid the worst of it, and make sure they’ve got your name down so you’re not waiting in vain.
Affluent and well-dressed partiers, predominantly Spanish with some expats and travelers, early 20s to late 30s.
DJs play sexy house and dance beats and occasional hip-hop.
Cover charge €15 if not on guest list. Beer €7, mixed drinks €10+.
Upscale chic: Tight dresses and high heels for women, dress shoes and a collared shirt for men.
The Thursday-night crowds are more energetic and party loving, while Friday and Saturday nights draw a slightly older, more sophisticated crowd.
