Though it lurks in the hinterlands of the city, the popular Otto Zutz Club nonetheless manages to pull in an energetic crowd of young clubbers from all over Barcelona for night after night of drinking and dancing.
The club’s size is certainly its biggest draw, with three levels of kitschy chandeliers and disco balls offering different scenes, a fantastic variety of beats, and plenty of bars to accommodate the chaotic tumble of patrons vying for space between sessions.
The main arena on the ground floor features hip-hop and R&B sounds, while the floor above is divided into one room for dancing and another for singing along to popular hits and maybe even riffing on an air guitar.
The top floor is home to Los Altos, a VIP room where clusters of cool but approachable patrons dedicate themselves to going wild to crowd-pleasing dance tunes, creating a real house party vibe.
It may be a bit of a trek, but Otto Zutz is a must for true night owls looking for a hip and out-of-control crowd that parties until dawn.
If you plan it right, there’s never a need to pay a cover charge at Otto Zutz. You can pick up a free pass at almost any bar in the Old Town, or put yourself on the guest list via Facebook. However, the no-cover charge window usually closes at 3:30am on Wednesdays and Thursdays and at 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, so make sure to arrive half an hour before then.
Young and wild, early 20s to 30s.
Various music scenes on various floors, depending on the night.
Only the top floor is open on Wednesdays, usually the VIP room. The main room and the top floor are open Thursdays for the popular Double Trouble parties.
Cover charge €15 or free with entry pass or guest list, includes one drink. Beer €5+, cocktails and mixed drinks €10+.
Smart casual.
Otto Zutz cleverly reduces the club’s space depending on the popularity of the night, so it rarely seems empty and a good vibe is all but guaranteed every night.
