Located just off Plaça Catalunya, Barcelona’s main square, Bel-Luna Jazz Club is an upscale venue offering live jazz every night and a terrific menu of contemporary cuisine.
The dim underground space with its arched ceilings, red-and-black décor, and collection of jazz memorabilia makes for a cool getaway from the noisy city streets above.
The club is smartly laid out in two sections, starting with an intimate bar and a smoking area where patrons can sip their whiskey and lounge on low black couches to watch the show. On the opposite side of the stage is a spacious non-smoking section where the majority of customers go to enjoy dinner before the live music begins.
Thanks to flat screens that project all the action on stage, everyone is assured of seeing the show regardless of where they sit.
The mood throughout is relaxed and sophisticated as couples and small groups finish their meals and pour the last of their wine to the soothing backdrop of gentle crooning and the funky sounds of bass and sax.
The wizened jazz aficionados who run Bel-Luna are genuine music lovers and make sure their customers are treated like kings.
Affluent, upscale, late 20s and up.
Live jazz every night by local and international artists. Resident acts play on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, jam sessions take place on Wednesdays, and guest performers play on weekends.
Menu of creative contemporary cuisine offers salads, entrées, and desserts. Extensive drink menu.
Cover charge €5/weekdays and €10/weekends. Average menu: appetizers €8+, entrées €14+, desserts €6+. Beer €4, wine/cava €6.50, cocktails €9.50.
Upscale dressy.
Bel-Luna is busiest on the weekends when the bigger names perform, but a loyal crowd turns out for dinner and jazz during the week as well.
