Considered by some to be the best first-stop spot in Barcelona, L’Ovella Negra is a rustic tavern whose high wood ceilings, glowing lanterns, stone floors, and cozy wood stoves create an ambiance reminiscent of a cross between the famous German beer gardens and a medieval mess hall.
Once patrons have navigated their way past the heavily-pierced bouncers, they’ll find themselves in the company of a young, international, and rowdy crowd sitting on benches beneath the iron chandeliers, swigging from their tankards, and telling tales of their travels.
Popular with students and tourists, there are always plenty of English speakers on hand with whom to share a pitcher of beer and a game of pool, foosball, or darts.
Regardless of the time or the activity, L’Ovella Negra’s welcoming, outgoing crowd and energetic atmosphere pretty much guarantee a good time.
International students and travelers, late teens to late 20s, many English speakers.
Ambient classic rock, house, top hits, and alternative.
Traditional tapas.
Tapas €2.50–€3.80. Beer €2.50/1.5 liters and €7.30/pitcher, sangria €10–€12. T-shirts €9, hats €6.
Casual.
Busy almost every night of the week, but it gets really packed on the weekends.
