Party Earth Review An animated and rowdy bar, Chupitos (Shots) specializes in creative, over-the-top shots with equally dramatic bar service. Most of the chupitos come with special performances by the bartender, some of which involve the actual bar being set on fire with a blowtorch. Not surprisingly, the house is packed every night with ... more

Party Earth Review Having hosted such legends as Chet Baker and Ella Fitzgerald, Jamboree is steeped in jazz history and firmly holds its place as one of Barcelona’s best live music venues, especially since bebop and Bossa Nova are hardly all to be had here. Patrons of all ages arrive in droves for the nightly concerts, which take place ... more

Party Earth Review A trendy bar in the Barri Gòtic area, Margarita Blue is a social hub for the city’s creative professionals that consistently lives up to its reputation for weekday antics and an all-around good time. During the week around 10:30pm, the bar likes to liven things up with magicians, drag queens, and trapeze artists, as well ... more

Party Earth Review Considered by some to be the best first-stop spot in Barcelona, L’Ovella Negra is a rustic tavern whose high wood ceilings, glowing lanterns, stone floors, and cozy wood stoves create an ambiance reminiscent of a cross between the famous German beer gardens and a medieval mess hall. Once patrons have navigated their way ... more

Party Earth Review In 1957, a neighborhood grocery store was transformed into one of El Born’s first bars – so it’s little wonder that the local citizens have a soft spot for Pitin Bar, a cozy hole-in-the-wall joint on the square. Historic as the place may be, the décor has definitely moved on from half a century ago and now features disco ... more

Party Earth Review Tucked away on a side street in the Barri Gòtic area is a little red gem called Sugar. It’s all about the cocktails at this sweet bar, and the list of specialties written in chalk on the ceiling are well worth the neck strain. Sugar’s simple but enticing décor of baroque murals, erotic artwork, and twinkling lights contributes ... more

Party Earth Review One of Raval’s most authentic pre-club bars, Zentraus is a hip joint that draws a large crowd of music lovers looking for an underground vibe. The black-tiled, somewhat industrial motif plunges patrons into near-total darkness, broken only by faint red lights shooting down vertically from the ceiling and a luminescent bar ... more

Party Earth Review Anyone determined to hang out with Barcelona’s coolest cats should head to Pepino, a restaurant and bar that is undoubtedly an excellent introduction into the city’s infamous nightlife. Party Earth Review Hidden away on a narrow street in El Raval, Soho is an authentic Moroccan-run hookah bar offering a distinct change of pace from the frantic Las Ramblas just a stone’s throw away. Party Earth Review Anyone who suffers under the sweltering Spanish sun may find the perfect remedy at Icebarcelona on Barceloneta beach. The endless array of bars in Barcelona are certainly not as crazy as their club and nightlife counterparts, but the bars still get going late, pack a great drinking punch, and many stay open well into the wee hours of the night.
Ubiquitous to Barcelona’s nightlife are the many cerveserias (bars) that echo with the noisy chatter of customers hustling for seats and service. Many groups start off the night in Las Ramblas as party-hoppers pop in and out of the area’s drinking dens and bars on their way to the evening’s final destination. Different types of bars include coctelerías (cocktail bars), whiskerias (whiskey bars), xampanyerias (sparkling wine bars), and many beer halls. In addition, Barcelona is also known for its great beach bars, upscale cocktail and mixology spots, hookah bars, and wine bars.
More relaxed and less touristy Barcelona bars can be found along the outskirts of the city, where the center’s frenetic pace gives way to a more tranquil way of life, while a vibrant gay scene has found a home in the neighborhood of L'Eixample and hosts a plethora of gay bars and other venues to party in.
