Aug 30, 2013 —  Most things that are worth doing take a lot of hard work. The same can be said for getting a tan. Anyone can hop in a tanning booth to obtain a cheap, orange-ish skin tone. However, only a select few can deal with the copious amounts of surfing, hot babes, jacked dudes, margaritas, and volleyball that comes with obtaining a certified, authentic beach tan.

In America – where hard work is valued – there are a handful of beaches where citizens labor in order to obtain the perfect bronze skin tone. Take Southern California’s picturesque Manhattan Beach for example. The clean, seemingly perfect abode is littered with good-looking 20-somethings that make it hard to focus on the job at hand.

Another tough sandy haven to grab UV rays without having too much fun is Chicago’s Oak Street Beach. Affluent Windy City guys and gals bike, toss footballs around, and slurp down cocktails at this lakeside spot, making it infinitely harder for work-minded attendees to devote their full attention to the burning orb in the sky.

Similarly, Bay Area boys and girls are faced with the arduous task of ignoring the hills, hiking trails, and dense coastal forest that surround Baker Beach. As if that wasn’t hard enough, the beach’s nude section makes it nearly impossible to put one’s head in the sand and bronze the day away.

Though it’s no cakewalk, tanning at the American beaches below is well worth your hard work.
