The Best Parks in the US and Europe to get your Jogging Fix

Central Park in New York.

Central Park in New York.

Comments  (11)

Aug 1, 2012 —  It’s hard to encapsulate the feeling you get during that perfect run, where you zone out, lose sight of all those worries and become thankful for the countless things in your life, one of which is simply, your surroundings. As you forget your body’s propelling motion while ironically picking up speed, you look around, breathe deeply and realize the beauty in the natural backdrop displayed before you.

And once you’ve got on those rose-colored glasses and that near-orgasmic runner’s high has officially kicked in, the little things stop mattering as much. You’re able to blow right by the sidewalk hog with three dogs and Rocky IV blasting from his iPhone without a second thought. And shockingly, the couple making out on the park bench every Thursday afternoon no longer makes you wince (very rose-colored).

Losing yourself in this adrenaline rush isn’t just about the swoosh on your sneakers or the new Lululemon shorts you’re wearing though, it all starts with the will and “where” to go. But don’t fret; we’ve done that work for you by compiling a Top 10 list of perfect sweat-it-out jogging spots in the U.S. and Europe. All you have to do is head out the door.

So give these amazing parks a test run and you can thank us later.

Sridevi Reddy Aug 8, 2012 Beach runs will always be my favorite
sandip Aug 7, 2012 Just needed this inspiration to get myself into shape for the summer....long way to go!
Matt Altman Aug 6, 2012 If you are running in Washington, DC you can't beat the national mall. Very inspiring to run around monuments and great open and flat spaces for running.
Chris Morgan Aug 3, 2012 Just run on the beach in LA, you'll be tired in no time.
Sam Altman Aug 3, 2012 Any park is better than being stuck on the treadmill during winter.
akiley Aug 2, 2012 Runyon is one of my favorites in LA. But once you've done that numerous times, I would check out the Hollywood Sign hike and Griffith Park. Both are great too!
Victor Hernández Aug 1, 2012 Does Echo Park count? I'm usually not running down this park though more like bar hopping from the Short Stop to The Echo. I definitely need to check out Runyon Canyon it looks like a nice place for a Sunday morning or afternoon. I'm surprised I haven't been there already. I'm definitely bringing my own water and snacks though.
Lauren Altman Aug 1, 2012 You'll be happy you made the trek up Runyon Canyon once you take in the view. For a killer workout head to Central Park's "Harlem Hills" - If you're training for a marathon you'll begin to know them like the back of your hand. El Parque del Buen Retiro is by far the most breathtaking!
Danny Milner Aug 1, 2012 Primo would have a comment like that. Will you be running in your Versace sunglasses?
Deepak Aug 1, 2012 What about Rodeo drive? I'd run on Rodeo and get my window shopping fix at the same time :)
Paul Feinstein Aug 1, 2012 I'm always amazed at the people jogging up and down Runyon Canyon. That's gotta be an incredible workout.
