Griffith Park in Los Angeles

Jan 11, 2013 —  One thing the U.S. isn’t lacking in is parks. And we aren’t even talking about the vast and glorious expanse of Yellowstone or the shockingly stunning stone paradise of Yosemite, either.

No, we’re talking about those parks that sit quietly in your backyard, dutifully serving as quick escapes from the urban bustle, and which require little advanced planning to visit but provide a much needed boost of nature amid all that concrete.

Major cities across the country all offer wonderful parks to explore. LA, for example, might be known best for celebrity glitz and traffic nightmares, but parks in Los Angeles like the famed Griffith Park offer miles of pavement-free (though not necessarily celeb-free) grounds to explore. New York, of course, has Central Park, where you can walk for five minutes and suddenly feel as if Manhattan is 500 miles away, and the combined grassy mass of Grant Park / Millennium Park in Chicago is a goldmine for summer fun in the sun.

Whether you’re in Washington, DC, Boston, or far away in San Francisco, Party Earth has a few U.S. parks in mind for you to check out. They might not all be hidden, but they are definitely gems.

A hike at Griffith Park followed by lunch at Trails Cafe (awesome homemade/organic food) is always a great day!
