Sep 11, 2013 —  There’s a tangible energy in the air come summertime in America. Suddenly, the world feels like an upbeat Bruce Springsteen song, whether you're partying during the day or dancing in the dark. Around every red, white, and blue corner, star-spangled citizens find a variety of ways to indulge in the summer season.

Chock-full of successful entertainment professionals and young creative types, the Upper West Side in New York has become a premier hotspot during the year’s warmest months. The locale offers parks, museums, libraries, and even a beach café with views of the Hudson River.

On the West Coast, Bay Area boys and gals flock to the Mission hood in San Francisco. There, denizens duck in and out of a bevy of sleek watering holes and top-notch, tasty mixology places. Mission Dolores Park and the Valencia Street Corridor offer plenty of opportunity to soak up the sun in between zesty drinks at local establishments.

Capital city kids head to the Georgetown area in Washington, D.C., when the thermometer starts to climb. This college spot is home to a long list of historic buildings, beautiful views of the Potomac River, and rowdy bars that get buzzed graduates feeling like they’re back in school.

Whether you’re born to run or simply want some sun, it’s hard to beat these American hoods when summer rolls around.
