Westergasfabriek is a former gas plant outside the city center whose old towers, warehouses, storage buildings, and grounds now house a collection of bars, clubs, restaurants, shops, and a vibrant cultural park.

During the day, the lovely terrain – known as Westerpark – offers plenty of green space for Frisbee throwing, football, kite flying, picnics, and barbecues, and the surrounding stores, galleries, bars, cafés, and restaurants provide plenty of things to see and do.

At night, a movie theater attracts an early evening crowd, while various clubs offer late-night party options.

From Thursday to Saturday, FlexBar – a small club shrouded in darkness and disco lights – presents solid electronic music for a hipster crowd. Another popular option is Pacific Parc, which is a large indoor/outdoor restaurant by day whose modern jungle décor turns into the perfect setting for a laid-back bar/club scene at night.

And on the west edge of the park is Westerunie with its grand covered terrace for daytime dining and upscale modern club featuring international DJs and all-night parties.

Overall, the crowd at Westergasfabriek is a melting pot of people, and the scene in this park setting is much more relaxed than city clubbing.
