Finding great shopping in Amsterdam is easy, considering the vast amount of areas with great boutiques, trendy stores, open markets, and more.
One of the best Amsterdam shopping areas is right in the heart of the city and called De Negen Straatjes or The Nine Streets. This area is right by Dam Square and the Royal Palace of Amsterdam and features blocks upon blocks of boutiques, designer stores, jewelers, art galleries, and more. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars nearby to ease a long day of bag toting.
The main shopping street in Amsterdam is Kalverstraat, which is a shopper’s paradise of shoe stores, trendy shops, big name chains, department stores, and more. Leidsestraat is another shopping street that features a much higher end level of shopping.
Albert Cuyp Markt in De Pijp, meanwhile, is the country’s largest outdoor market selling everything from fresh produce to clothing to accessories, plus authentic Dutch products and crafts. Westergasfabriek on the other hand is an entire entertainment complex filled with bars, lounges, clubs, and restaurants, but also shops and galleries for daytime wandering as well.
Whether looking for designer duds or just sampling Dutch delicacies, there are plenty of places to shop in Amsterdam any day of the week.
