Though there’s the misconception that people spend too much time in the coffeeshops and forget about everything else going on in the city, there’s actually a whole range of things to do in Amsterdam, and its people certainly take advantage of that. Amsterdam’s plazas and parks, including the main Vondelpark, are filled with people lounging outdoors in the sun with friends, playing sports, and, of course, drinking and smoking.
A similar scene awaits on the landmark canals that run through town, where groups gather in boats to socialize, cruise the city, and take in the views from the water. Even in the cold winter months, events draw the locals out on their ever-present bikes to mush across town for shopping, exhibitions, incredible museum displays, and more. And Amsterdam’s nightlife also hums all year, promising so many things to do for those willing to drop the vaporizer and get their butts to the streets.
