Performing Arts in Amsterdam

There is a thriving performing arts scene in Amsterdam, and whether you’re looking to catch a great play or musical, sit through a classical orchestral performance, or even find some naughty burlesque, there are plenty of outlets that are right for you.

The performing arts in Amsterdam are split between multiple disciplines at various venues throughout the city. You can find great musicals and plays at major theater houses, symphony orchestra or ballet at music halls, and cabaret or burlesque at saucy spots in the Red Light District.

One of the great places to see Amsterdam performing arts is at Amsterdam ArenA. Known as the home of Ajax football, the arena also hosts major theater performances. Other major performance spaces are Muziektheater and Concertgebouw where they host everything from the symphony to major rock shows.

During summer months, there’s great theater in Vondelpark where patrons can sit in the grass and take in a stage performance while lying in the sun or under the stars.
