Jun 3, 2012 —  Amsterdam is a beer-drinking city where an infinite selection of old and new bars dole out local and regional brews for their thirsty patrons. After-all this is the city of Heineken and Amstel, and Amsterdammers take full advantage of their hometown brews.

Brown bars and pubs dominate the scene and provide a setting where people are clearly into partying, pub crawling, and indulging in endless rounds of beer.

This is especially true during any big match, when fans down pint after pint with the hooligans from near and far that run amok in the Red Light District, or with fellow enthusiasts at one of the many sports bars that line Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein.

Gabriel Larkman Aug 6, 2012 Amsterdam sure has a huge pride for it's Heineken, and after taking a tour through the Heineken factory you will too. Print out tickets before going to avoid a line, then you will get to experience a very interactive tour as to how the beer is made, getting 2 free heinekens at the end. The guides even explain why the Dutch insist on that 2 inches of foam at the top of their beers, but I won't ruin that surprise. Afterwards the Red Light District is a simple tram ride away, where you can enjoy more Heineken at the corner bars or the house wine, Jagermeister (yes they call this their house wine). During soccer games crowds flock into these bars decked out in orange, with music parading into the streets if there is a victory. After you can wander the streets in awe and maybe fear of the ladies in the windows beckoning for you to come inside.
