Vredenburg Leeuwenbergh is a recital hall-sized venue in Utrecht, the capital city of The Netherlands. The venue is generally used for chamber music, jazz, and world music, but also serves as a venue for upcoming and experimental acts.
Vredenburg Leeuwenbergh currently serves as a replacement venue for the small hall in Vredenburg Leidsche Rijn, which is under construction until 2014. Like Leidche Rijn, Leeuwenbergh has a rich history. The building was originally built in 1567 as a hostel to isolate plague victims, and while it was never used for that purpose, it served as a university and even a church throughout its history.
Vredenburg Leeuwenbergh seats 250 patrons and presents small-venue acts, mostly chamber, jazz, and world music. The venue is the smaller of two venues acting as a replacement for Vredenburg Leidsche Rijn while it is under construction.
