Baroeg, located in Rotterdam, is one of the best-known alternative music venues in the Netherlands.
Opened in 1981, Baroeg mainly showcases such harder genres as metal, gothic, punk, electro, and hardcore, and describes itself as a “subcultural pop music venue.” Although the space is intimate with a 450-person capacity, events at Baroeg include concerts and parties, as well as regular dance nights.
Past concerts at Baroeg include notable performances by Within Temptation, Cradle of Filth, and Radio Moscow.
The venue also organizes the Baroeg Open Air Festival, featuring live music from every genre. The event draws in thousands of people every year.
