A super-trendy bar with a casual and upbeat atmosphere, the Chocolate Bar just might be one of the coolest places in the neighborhood.

The vintage décor of 70s-style wallpaper and flowered lamps provides a fashionable backdrop for the mixed crowd of yuppies, designers, and working artists who keep the place busy every night of the week.

For a low-key vibe in the evening, the long couches in the lounge create a more intimate setting for sipping cocktails or savoring Chocolate’s famous desserts.

Although it can sometimes take twenty minutes to receive a cocktail, Chocolate Bar’s overall atmosphere is fairly laid back, and patrons are content to simply enjoy the setting among friends.

If you’re going to hang out in De Pijp, you’ve got to make it over to this bar. Beautiful setting, lots of cool people to meet, and a chocolate dessert that’s to die for.

elina1987 Dec 11, 2012 2.0 stars Breathe, Eat,Sleep and Drink in the Pijp It feels like everyone who leave in or near De Pijp, also only goes out for a drink in De Pijp. The chocolate bar is located next to the Albert Cuyp market, and close to several other bars. During the weekend, the chocolate bar is very crowded and the crowd is mixed with neighbours, college students, businessman and their friends, who meetup in the Pijp. It is one of those places where you meet and find all your friends back. It is like being in a little town, instead of the big city of Amsterdam. it is fun to have a drink but you might feel intimidates by the screaming and laughing, since this is a crowded place. I enjoyed a few drinks here while being on a bar crawl.

Audrey Sykes Dec 4, 2012 3.0 stars Fun in De Pijp I've never really partied at Chocolate Bar because it was my idea, it's always someone else's. Then again I don't really party in De Pijp, so I don't go often to begin with. People say the crowd is pretentious but I don't really feel that. Since they remodeled I think it was a major -- and well needed -- upgrade. And hanging outside is fun, even in the winter when the heaters are on. The servers are always nice to me, curious to know where I'm from and whatever. Which is surprising to me, because it's not a wild, crazy idea that internationals live in Amsterdam. And I guess for my Dutch friends they're not big on it because it's a little superficial if you know what's going on around you. But whatever, go there for the hangout aspect, one drink won't kill ya.

Jody Pollara Dec 3, 2012 2.0 stars I like the vibe here This is a really cool, trendy kind of bar. It was kind of dark and dim and quiet which can be a nice way to start your night. We went there fairly early in the evening so we could have a cocktail and chat before heading out for the night and it was perfect for that. We didn't eat anything here, just had some fancy cocktails because we thought that fit the mood of the place. Walking in off the street almost feels like walking into a New York City lounge in 1975. I just loved everything about this place. I saw a few of the meals and desserts go by and everything looked fantastic, although I can't speak to the taste.
