A super-trendy bar with a casual and upbeat atmosphere, the Chocolate Bar just might be one of the coolest places in the neighborhood.
The vintage décor of 70s-style wallpaper and flowered lamps provides a fashionable backdrop for the mixed crowd of yuppies, designers, and working artists who keep the place busy every night of the week.
For a low-key vibe in the evening, the long couches in the lounge create a more intimate setting for sipping cocktails or savoring Chocolate’s famous desserts.
Although it can sometimes take twenty minutes to receive a cocktail, Chocolate Bar’s overall atmosphere is fairly laid back, and patrons are content to simply enjoy the setting among friends.
Urban, trendy, and hip, 20s to 30s.
Track list is a mix of electro techno and house.
Full menu of breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, pasta, and desserts served until 10pm. Bar snacks also available.
Breakfast menu €3+, lunch menu €4–€7, dinner menu €10–€16, desserts €6. Bar snacks €4.50–€7.50. Beer €2.20+, wine €2.80, cocktails €8, mixed drinks €5+.
Casual to smart casual.
The bar usually stays crowded late on Thursdays and on the weekends, but peaks around midnight.
1e van der Helststraat is lined with lively bars and full of sociable people. The De Pijp party scene starts here and goes down Ferdinand Bolstraat, making it an ideal location for barhopping.
