Party Earth The Dolphins Review

The Scene

"Thanks to its shameless ocean theme, The Dolphins is one of the most unique and recognizable coffeeshops in Amsterdam._x000D_

Thanks to its shameless ocean theme, The Dolphins is one of the most unique and recognizable coffeeshops in Amsterdam.

The walls are amusingly painted with one continuous marine mural that features air-brushed dolphins, treasure chests, and scuba divers, as well as three-dimensional foam coral creations that bubble out from the surface.

The narrow room contains a display case of glass pipe work and a seashell-laden bar, lit by bulbs containing live goldfish. To top off the already over-the-top décor, TV screens play aquatic visuals, while cool tones accentuate the feeling of what it must be like to live on a coral reef.

Stairs in the back lead to a smoking lounge with wicker sofas where young patrons lounge and contemplate the funky, yet soothing, wall creations.

Besides the fascinating décor, of course, The Dolphins offers a range of quality products and a friendly atmosphere that attract an open and sociable clientele.

Going diving at The Dolphins

with magical ocean blue theme and cool friendly staff helpful with any question, The Dolphins will make you wanna come back again. the place has its own unique menu which offers tasty pastries, or enjoying one of the hot drinks with the herb of your choise while you are listening to smooth chill out music of the day and surrounded by ocean like walls, lamps, shelves etc. having a natural trippy atmosphere around that makes you feel nice and cozy, is all one wishes to have in his favorite coffeeshop. truly a classic.

Now THIS is a coffeeshop worth checking out, if only for the decor on the inside. I can't remember the first time I came here.... figures.... but I always say hit this place up if you're around Leidseplein looking for a coffeeshop. It's not so much about bud quality as it is just an overall hippie funky coffeeshop experience. The staff are always nice, it's independently owned, it's laid back... it's just cool. And one of the few places that offer alternative to people who don't want to smoke their cannabis. I'd definitely say stay on the first floor, the decor is more unique.
Kitschy Fun!

I've said it before - I think touristy attractions are touristy for a reason - because they are fun! I am pretty shameless when it comes to kitschy tourist attractions and I think the Dolphins fits that genre. It is fun to check out the coffeeshops in Amsterdam because it is an experience that you can't really get elsewhere, but I loved the Dolphins because you not only get the unique experience of seeing people smoke marijuana (and eat space treats) publicly, but you also feel like you are on an undersea adventure. The walls are either completely covered in an undersea mural or look like a cave in Hef's grotto. Personally, I love this kind of thing, but if you don't like places that have a gimmick, you probably won't like it here.
