Daily noon–midnight (March to September)
Bloemendaal, The Netherlands –
Possibly the most popular spot in Bloemendaal aan Zee, Woodstock 69 is a picturesque party house overlooking the beach, and has a casual, island-style lounge.
Colorful mosaics decorate portions of the outer walls by the sun deck, where patrons can lounge on a bed to soak up the rays or sink into a couch or bean bag around the fire pit.
Surrounded by a backdrop of brightly-colored Greek, Spanish, and Italian façades, the outdoor area gives the impression of being on a stage set, while inside, a beautiful blend of Eastern and island cultures and décor creates an ultra-mellow vibe that facilitates total relaxation – at least until sunset, when Woodstock turns into a dance club both inside and out.
Not at all what one might expect from a Dutch beach bar, Woodstock offers its carefree clientele of surfers, beach babes, and campers a relaxing yet animated place to enjoy the scenery by day and the festivities by night.
With the ping-pong and foosball tables and the outgoing crowd, Woodstock offers a fun party atmosphere even when it’s raining. It’s really the best place to run to when the downpour starts – plenty of other patrons will do the same and have a great time dancing in the laid-back atmosphere as stormy waves crash on the shore.
Laid-back and fun-loving, early 20s to mid-40s.
Mix of music, though live bands tend to play chill house or reggae funk. Foosball and ping-pong tables. During the day, wandering vendors offer everything from massages for tips to discount kitesurfing lessons.
Full menu of global dishes including Thai chicken salads, grilled steaks, pita cheese tapas, and burgers. Lunch served noon–5pm, dinner 6–10pm. Each dish is paired with a wine from the extensive menu.
Cover charge €7.50/club nights, but check the website for details. Appetizers €6+, salads €12.50, burgers and sandwiches €5–€6.50, entrées €13–€18.50. Beer €4, wine €4, mixed drinks €7.50.
Beachy to casual.
Open March through September. Best to go during the day while at the beach. It starts to get lively around 8pm and closes at midnight.
Vroeger and BLM9 are more upscale clubs in the area. Another strip of beach bars and pubs is on Zandvoort aan Zee.
