The well-dressed patrons at this modern yet comfortably informal venue can peruse the menu of over one hundred types of bottled wine and thirty-five by-the-glass options as chefs visible in the open kitchen prepare delicate dishes that enhance and complement the wine selection.

The simple yet elegant décor of light wood, white walls, and maroon columns sets off the collection of wine bottles lined up on shelves above the tables or neatly arranged in one of the five wine coolers.

Both a terrace and a wall of windows offer pleasant seating for sipping chilled champagne or sampling dark red wines.

There’s never a need to rush at Boelen & Boelen, and the posh customers are encouraged to relax and take the time to thoroughly savor their wines and their company.

Guests who may still be learning about the finer aspects of wine can depend on the polite and servers to suggest wines and food pairings.

Like a piece of Paris dropped into one of the city’s most fashionable neighborhoods, Boelen & Boelen delivers with style and meets even the highest standards of true wine enthusiasts.

If I was a rich man.

If I was a rich man I would love to spend an evening in here sampling all of the different types of lovely wine. To be able to buy the most expensive bottle in there, and take my time enjoying every sip. My experience though was a few glasses of the lower priced wine, but still I could taste the quality. I had a lovely evening here, the music was just nice and chilled, and you could have a good conversation and enjoy your drink. I went in the early evening, and it was not too busy, but it started to fill up fast. But still kept its cosy vibe no matter how full the place got. My friend from Kentucky said it reminds her of a New Orleans quarter wine bar. I felt it had a strong French and cultured vibe.
Classy and sophisticated

I picked Boelen because I wanted to accurately portray De Pijp and pick out what I thought were really the best spots in the place. This wine bar is located on a tiny square, with a few other bars surrounding it that get pretty packed and carry their own good time. Boelen stands out because it's not a brown bar watering hole, it's a classy joint that's sophisticated, beautiful, and really great quality. They put a lot of effort into this place, and it shows when compared to the places around it. And I guess it's a little eclipsed by the surrounding places, so I'm happy to throw it into the spotlight and say come here first before dragging your party crowd around De Pijp.
